From the banks of the Volta River in Anum to the corridors of power and the laboratories of the world — the spirit of ANSEC travels with every alumnus, everywhere.
From these classrooms to the highest offices of Ghana's government — one of ANSEC's most celebrated sons.
Born right here in Anum on 14th February 1978, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem walked through the gates of ANSEC in 1992 — a young son of the Eastern Region with a curious mind and an instinct for public service. What ANSEC instilled in him became the foundation of a remarkable career that has taken him from a classroom in Anum to the floor of Ghana's Parliament and the Ministry of Finance.
Today he stands as one of Ghana's most powerful economic voices — proof that where you begin does not limit where you go when you carry ANSEC's spirit with you.
"Every cedi lost through corruption translates into unbuilt schools, unpaved roads, and lives adversely affected. We must uphold the highest standards — transparency, accountability, and service to the nation."
ANSEC alumni have gone on to distinguished careers in government, medicine, education, engineering, the church, the arts, and entrepreneurship across Ghana and beyond.
Hear from alumni across the world about how ANSEC shaped the people they became.
ANSEC didn't just give me an education — it gave me a moral compass. The Presbyterian values we lived by as students are the same values I bring to public service every day in Parliament.
The discipline at ANSEC is unlike anything else. My teachers pushed me to think critically and never settle for less. I carried that into medical school and into every operation theatre I've worked in since.
I grew up in a small family in Anum. ANSEC was the place that showed me what was possible. The teachers believed in us completely. Whenever I achieve something, I think of them first.
